Celebrities Who Have Been Mistaken For Other Celebrities

Entertainment | By Harriet King | November 25, 2018

Ever been walking down the street, thought you've seen a friend passing in the other direction, stopped to say "hi" and realized it wasn't them? Unsettling, isn't it? Even more strangely, have you ever seen someone else in a crowded room and noticed an uncanny resemblance to yourself?

We're all born as beautiful, unique individuals, but there are only so many possible variations on face and body type. Limited hair and eye colors. That means in a world of six billion people, we all have at least one doppelganger out there.

In the case of some famous people, their doppelganger also became famous, and that means they're often mistaken for each other. Even their own fans, press photographers and journalists struggle to tell them apart. Here are fifty celebrities who look so alike, they must routinely sign autographs for each other because it's easier than correcting the people who ask!

1. Amy Adams and Isla Fisher

Amy Adams and Isla Fisher look so alike that they probably use each other as doubles when it's convenient for them. If Adams can't make red carpet or interview appointment, she can send Fisher in her place, or vice versa, and nobody will be any the wiser. Wouldn't it be nice if you could send your own double to work in your place occasionally?

The resemblance between the two is so striking that even people who work in the industry struggle to tell them apart. Fisher told Jimmy Kimmel that she was once approached at an Oscar Party by Lady Gaga, who started complimenting her for Adams' work in 'American Hustle'. Fisher found the whole experience so awkward that she didn't even try to correct Gaga; she just bowed her head and accepted the praise gracefully. We get it. Who wants to make Gaga feel embarrassed? Not us!

2. Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry

Remember when all the promotional posters for 'New Girl' came out, and everybody thought that Katy Perry had gone into acting? Zooey Deschanel is an absolute dead ringer for 'I Kissed A Girl' singer Katy Perry. And she hasn't always been happy about it, either. MTV once asked her what she thought about the resemblance, and she told them that the two had nothing in common apart from the fact that they looked alike, although she was "sure Perry was a nice girl". Ouch!

Time must have mellowed her a little, though, because more recently they've been happy to pose for Instagram snaps together and encourage fans to guess who's who. At one point, they were even planning to go to a Halloween party as the twins from 'The Shining'. We believe that Deschanel has a pretty good singing voice, too. That must make it tempting for Perry to call her and ask her if she fancies filling in for a few nights on long tours.

3. Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood

Now, one of these gentlemen was Harry Potter, and one of them was Frodo Baggins in 'Lord of the Rings'. That makes them icons for fans of fantasy movies. But if you saw one of them out and about and asked for an autograph, could you be sure that you knew which one was which? They seemed to reach adulthood and become famous at the same time, which only added to the confusion.

Aside from the identical jawline, both actors have blue eyes and brown hair. Guys, do us a favor and stop getting your hair cut in the same style, it makes things worse! Radcliffe says that if people ask him if he's Wood, he just says 'no' and refuses to tell them who he actually is. That's not very helpful. He's supposed to be a nice wizard!

4. Lucy Hale and Selena Gomez

Lucy Hale apparently spends a lot of time being asked about her relationship with Justin Bieber. Given that she's never had one, that must get pretty irritating after a while. It's Selena Gomez who was famously on and off with Bieber for years. There is an undeniable resemblance between the two, though. We wonder if Bieber ever accidentally hit on Hale during celebrity parties?

The fact they lookalike has caused problems for Hale in the past. Writing on Instagram, she said that someone was once so convinced she was Gomez, they wanted to borrow her phone and called Bieber. That's rude on so many levels. Not only did they get her identity wrong, they didn't even really want to speak to her even if she really was Gomez. That's got to sting. We wonder if anyone ever calls her a Pretty Little Liar when she tells them who she actually is?

5. Rupert Grint and Ed Sheeran

This is one of the better-known cases of celebrities looking alike in the world today. Both Rupert Grint and Ed Sheeran are very aware that they look similar, and enjoy playing up to the fact. Sheeran has even had Grint appear in one of his music videos, playing the guitar and generally taking his place. They can't exactly blame their fans for getting things mixed up if they're encouraging it to happen.

If you study them carefully, they don't actually look all that alike in the face; Sheeran's features are softer and rounder, but it's the shock of red hair that makes people look twice. Even though Grint was in one of the most famous movie franchises of all time, he says the ratio of people identifying him correctly is only around 50/50. He must really hate it when Sheeran has a new album to release. Maybe he should just take up playing guitar for real and go with it.

6. Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran

We're not being mean to red haired people here, we promise! Ed Sheeran's soft features must just make it easy for him to be mistaken for anybody who has the same hair color. As well as sometimes looking like he might have been Harry Potter's best friend, Sheeran is also occasionally congratulated on his recent marriage to Meghan Markle.

It doesn't help that Sheeran is actually friends with some of the royals, and especially Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice. That means he hangs around with the royal crowd and goes to parties where the younger royals are; which is exactly where you'd expect to find Harry (as in the Prince, not Potter!), and making it a difficult night for the paparazzi. Excruciatingly, the confusion sometimes happens the other way around, too. Actress Margot Robbie once had to apologize to Harry for thinking she was being introduced to Sheeran. Talk about awkward.

7. Darren Criss and Kit Harrington

"You know nothing, Jon Snow" is a phrase that must make Darren Criss's teeth grind together whenever people say it to him. As an actor, he'd probably love to have a prominent role in the smash hit TV show 'Game of Thrones'. He isn't Jon Snow, though. Kit Harrington is. That means Criss routinely has to disappoint people in the street who think they've chanced across a photo opportunity with the true heir to the Iron Throne.

Criss is best known for his time in 'Glee', and it amuses us to think of Harrington in Glee playing his 'Game of Thrones' character. It would have put a different perspective on the show, for sure. We wonder if anybody ever stops Harrington in the street and asks him to launch into a musical number? We'd pay to see that.

8. Helen Hunt and Jodie Foster.

If people ever ask Helen Hunt about working with Anthony Hopkins, she probably has one or two good anecdotes about starring with him in the movie 'Bobby' in 2006. When she tells them, though, we imagine people stop her and tell her that instead, they want to hear about that time he told her that he once ate a man's liver with some fava beans and washed it down with a nice chianti. That's because people are confusing her with Jodie Foster.

When one lookalike is much more famous than the other, you can forgive people for mistaking the less famous person for the bigger star. That's not the case with Hunt and Foster though, both of whom are considered to be greats of the film world. She can't seem to get away from it though. She once ordered a coffee at Starbucks, and when she came to collect it, she found Foster's name written on the side of the cup - and spelled incorrectly. Double fail!

9. Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon

It's bad enough for Matt Damon that he spends so much time hanging around with Ben Affleck that people sometimes get them confused, even though they look nothing alike. He also had to deal with the fact that he has more than a passing resemblance to Mark Wahlberg. We wonder if, when making a movie, studios call one of them and offer them a leading role, and then call the other if the first one isn't interested?

Wahlberg seems to take the fact they look alike with good grace. A fan once screamed 'Matt Damon' at him in the street, and stopped to take a picture with him. He didn't correct her, and when she later posted the image online, he shared it on Facebook with the comment "close enough!" We bet the fan didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

10. Elizabeth Banks and Chelsea Handler

Hands up who has only just found out that these two aren't the same person by reading this article? Whilst many of the celebrities on this list have an undeniable similarity, these two could actually be twins. They've been at the same parties or gatherings on numerous occasions, leaving guests very unsure of who they're talking to. They could probably turn up and collect each other's invitations to celebrity events. If one is invited and the other isn't, they could both turn up anyway and probably get in!

Both Banks and Handler are very much aware that people mix their identities up, and actually enjoy it. Banks is a keen admirer of Handler's wit and has never corrected people who speak to her as if she's Handler, instead preferring to go along with it and enjoy the extra layer of anonymity it gives her. We hope that doesn't mean she misbehaves, and lets her doppelganger take the blame.

11. John Stamos and Rob Lowe

Two refined gentlemen of a certain age, with brooding eyes and really great hair. But which is which. Who is the star of 'Full House', and who made a huge comeback in 'The West Wing'? Given that most people never see or meet their doppelganger, it must be pretty frustrating when yours not only moves in the same circles as you, but actually works in the same job. Having said that, it's not like either of them are doing badly to work, so perhaps they don't mind too much.

We don't know how Lowe feels about their resemblance, but Stamos certainly has a good time playing up to it. He once posted a video on Instagram showing interactions with fans believing he was Lowe and having a lot of fun playing up the role. Stamos could play Lowe in a movie about his life, if for some reason Lowe didn't want to appear in it himself.

12. Kim Kardashian and Eva Longoria

We had a hard time believing this one is true. Both of these photogenic ladies have their own distinct brand and personality, and apart from being stunningly beautiful, don't appear at first glance to have much in common. Plus, Kardashian is one of the most famous people in the world. Everybody knows what she looks like, and you'd like to think that Longoria is famous enough in her own right for confusion not to happen. Apparently though, it does, although perhaps only to aging rock stars.

We should be fair to Poison's Brett Michaels. He's led the rock and roll lifestyle for a very long time now, and his memory probably isn't what it used to be. We're still not sure if it excuses him tweeting Longoria to wish her a happy birthday and accompanying it with a picture of him and Kardashian, though. We have to wonder if he's actually been hanging around with Kardashian and thinking it was Longoria the whole time!

13. Theo James and James Franco

Not only do these two men share one of the same names, they also more or less share the same face. Star of 'Divergent' Theo James has told tales of frequently being mistaken for James Franco by the paparazzi when he's making his way around town, and that the photographers are usually disappointed when they realize he isn't who they think he is. That must hurt a little, given that he has a successful career of his own.

Given Franco's occasional bad boy behavior, it must get tiresome for James if he's forever being asked about his antics, or whether claims in the press about him are true. We wonder if it's ever tempting to just say "Yes, I did everything you say I did!" and then just sit back and watch the headlines roll in, while Franco sits and wonders what on Earth just happened?

14. Meryl Streep and Glenn Close

It's not just Helen Hunt and Jodie Foster who get mistaken for each other among the higher end of Hollywood women. Meryl Streep and Glenn Close apparently suffer with the same problem. They have definite, striking similarities, and they probably get considered for the same parts when new films are written.

It doesn't seem to bother them, though. Streep was interviewed by the New York Times in 2012, and they directly asked her how she felt about it. She responded that the two had discussed it and were fine with it. They're big fans of each other, and also enjoy each other's movies. Isn't that lovely? Quickly, though, and without looking, can you say with certainty which one of them appeared in '101 Dalmatians' as Cruella de Vil? Want us to put you out of your misery? It was Close. We bet about half of you got that wrong.

15. Colton Haynes and Jesse McCartney

When you've starred in something as big as 'Teen Wolf', you're probably entitled to think that when people recognize you, they'll know who you are and what you've done. Apparently, that isn't the case for poor Colton Haynes, who's out there in the world walking around with somebody else's face. Specifically, he's walking around with the face of Jesse McCartney, former boy-band star and now actor.

Haynes recently tweeted that someone tapped him on the shoulder whilst he was waiting for his baggage at an airport and asked him if he was McCartney. All things considered, though, if you're going to be mistaken for somebody else, it might as well be someone who's known for being good looking. The people who get your name wrong might be annoying, but at least they're sort of giving you a compliment while they're doing it!

16. Sarah Hyland and Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis has once said that she spends her life having people shout, 'Shut up, Meg' at her in the street because of her voice acting work in 'Family Guy'. That has to grate on your nerves after a while. It has to grate even more for Sarah Hyland, who isn't even getting the pay checks from the show to compensate for it. Hyland does 'Modern Family', not 'Family Guy'. Even the shows sound a little similar. No wonder people get confused!

Hyland and Kunis are two of the most beautiful women in the world, and it's the eyes where the resemblance between them is the most striking. Given that both of them regularly appear in comedy parts, and have a gift for making us laugh, we wonder if they also share the same sense of humor. Even the press struggle to separate the two, often printing photos labeling one as the other.

17. Daisy Ridley and Keira Knightley

Two delicate, beautiful English roses who both work on the big screen, at first glance there's no telling Keira Knightley and Daisy Ridley apart. They even have the same smile and cheekbones; or at least them seem to on the rare occasions when we see Knightley smile! When Ridley was cast in her breakthrough 'Star Wars' role, people probably congratulated Knightley. That would have been pretty confusing for Knightley, who was actually in the 'Star Wars' prequels some ten years earlier.

Whereas most celebrities on this list at least say they're fine with being mixed up with someone else, Ridley is less happy about it. That might have something to do with the fact that Knightley is quite a lot older than her. Nobody in their mid-twenties wants to be mistaken for someone who's in their mid-thirties.

18. Chris Rock and Kevin Hart

Like Ed Sheeran and Rupert Grint, this is one of the best known and commonly made celebrity mix-ups in the world today. There are even websites devoted to the conspiracy theory that Chris Rock and Kevin Hart are actually the same person. They look like they were separated at birth, and with both of them being comedy actors, it's very easy to see how people could come to that conclusion. It's only because we've seen photos of them together, like this one, that we can say for sure that they're definitely two distinct individuals.

We think that Rock just about has a bigger media profile than Hart, although there's not a lot in it; especially when the Kevin Hart meme is used so often on social media. Hart takes it all in his stride though; when people mistake him for Rock, he says it 'keeps him humble', and the pair seem to get on fine in real life.

19. Chris Pratt and Chris Evans

Marvel should probably stop casting people called 'Chris' in their superhero movies, it just confuses their audience. Chris Pratt and Chris Evans have both appeared on the big screen as larger than life characters, but who played who? Want us to help you out? Pratt is the man you've seen playing Peter Quill, or 'Star-Lord'. You'll know Evans better as Captain America. Given that Evans' part is arguably a higher profile one than Pratt's, it must be pretty annoying for Pratt when people get them the wrong way around. We're sure he'd love to be Captain America. But then who wouldn't?

In recent times, Pratt has helpfully grown a beard, which makes it easier for us to tell them apart. Even that isn't always successful though. In an episode of 'Billy in the Street', Pratt was yet again mistaken for Evans by a fan. Maybe Evans should just wear his costume all the time. There would be no risk of mistaken identity then.

20. Jada Pinkett Smith and Zoe Saldana

There are only seven years between these two lookalikes, and we bet you can't tell which one is older. We're not going to tell you, because it's rude to discuss a lady's age. Look it up yourself if you want to know! Can you tell which one's married to Will Smith, though; the one on the left, or the one on the right? Not sure? That's Jada Pinkett Smith on the right, and Zoe Saldana on the left. Well done if you worked it out without being told.

Smith is probably best known for her marriage to the former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which is a little unfair because she's an accomplished actress and singer-songwriter in her own right. You'll have seen Saldana in the rebooted 'Star Trek' movie franchise, and also in the Marvel universe as 'Gamora'. She actually has two sisters of her own, but neither of them actually looks as much like her as Smith does.

21. Will Ferrell and Chad Smith

Will Ferrell is a lot more famous than Chad Smith is, especially outside the USA. Everybody knows who the Red Hot Chili Peppers are, but it's mostly bass player Flea and lead singer Anthony Kiedis who get all the attention. Smith, as the drummer, is largely ignored. That's sadly true of a lot of drummers in bands; it's the problem with being sat at the back of the stage! Because of the fame disparity, many people reading this are only now realizing that they've seen several pictures of Smith and believed they were actually looking at Ferrell.

Smith probably isn't a fan of the Christmas season, as we imagine people are constantly making 'Elf' references at him because they've got his identity wrong. He deals with the whole thing with good humor though. Ferrell and Smith even appeared on 'The Tonight Show' with Jimmy Fallon and had a drum-off. Needless to say, Ferrell didn't come away with the victory!

22. Margot Robbie and Jaime Pressly

If you saw Margot Robbie and Jaime Pressly standing side by side, you'd probably be able to work out who's who. They're both stunning, but Robbie is quite a lot younger than Pressly, and it's visible in their faces. It's only when you're watching a movie that Pressly made several years ago that you have to look twice and work out whether you're looking at her or Robbie.

Both were actually working in television roles at the same time, waiting for their big Hollywood break to come through. Pressly is fondly remembered for her appearances in 'My Name is Earl', whereas Robbie was a soap star in 'Neighbors' in her home country of Australia. If they aren't cast as mother and daughter at some point in the future, then directors and producers are really missing a trick.

23. Emily Kinney and Evanna Lynch

On this photo, you have Emily Kinney and Evanna Lynch. Uncanny, isn't it? Which one was in the 'Harry Potter' series, and which one has been doing battle with zombies in 'The Walking Dead'? If you're looking for help with magic from 'Luna Lovegood', she's the one on the right. If you're looking for help fighting off the undead, go left and pair yourself up with 'Beth Greene'. We're not sure they'd be much use to you if you got them the wrong way around.

People mistake the two so often that if you enter either woman's name on Google, one of the first predicted search results suggests the other woman's name, followed by 'related'. People really have to double check all the time to work out which person's work they're watching. If you're really paying attention, Kinney has slightly darker eyes, and a more pointed chin. Chin-spotting is a useful skill when you're playing the celebrity lookalikes game!

24. Chord Overstreet and Austin Butler

When you have a name as unusual and unique as 'Chord Overstreet', you'd expect people to be able to identify you quite easily. Unfortunately for Overstreet, he was born into the same world as Austin Butler, at around the same time. The windswept blond hairstyle that both men go for doesn't really help people tell them apart, either.

They even have similar hobbies and routes into stardom. Both of them came to prominence through the world of acting but are actually musicians at heart. Overstreet used 'Glee' as a vehicle to bag himself a recording contract, and although a lot of people Butler was also part of that cast, he wasn't. He's appeared as a singer within "iCarly" but is yet to release anything in his own right. If you need a pointer in telling them apart, Overstreet has the fuller face, whereas Butler still has younger, boyish features, although both of them are pin up icons for teenage girls.

25. Henry Cavill and Matt Bomer

Henry Cavill recently revealed that he has one more 'Superman' movie to make under the terms of his contract, and then he'll be ready to hand the role to somebody else. Whilst that might seem like a blow to DC Comics and the people who make their films, they could actually just give the part straight to Matt Bomer, and most people probably wouldn't notice. Bomer is a little older than Cavill, but keeps himself in great shape, and you'd never know by looking at him.

Both men regularly find themselves listed in in glossy magazines when they're compiling articles of the world's sexiest men, and there are a whole legion of fans hoping for a sequel to 'Magic Mike' where the two of them appear together. If there are any Hollywood producers reading, that sounds like a license to print money if you can make it happen. No need to thank us for the idea!

26. Alicia Silverstone and Kristen Stewart

This is a case of lookalikes being separated by time. It's also another opportunity for movie producers to select an inspired mother/daughter combination for a future film and have the family resemblance appear to be convincing! Looking at pictures of a younger Alicia Silverstone, it's impossible not to be reminded of 'Twilight' star Kristen Stewart as she looks today; especially when Stewart wears her hair long.

It seems like every successful film from years ago is getting a remake these days, and if anyone out there is thinking of doing a modern take on 'Clueless', Stewart is the obvious choice for the part, if the famously pale actress can be persuaded to spend a while catching a tan before she starts filming. Both actresses spend a lot of time advocating for causes they believe in; Stewart for LGBT rights, and Silverstone for animal rights and environmentalism.

27. Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard

I think we can chalk this up as another entry in the 'everybody thinks redheads look alike' list. Apparently, Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard are regularly mistaken for one another, even though there isn't a particularly strong facial resemblance. Who'd have thought that so many people identify people they see by their hair before they look at anything else?

Both Chastain and Howard have actually worked together in the past, with both of them appearing in 'The Help'. They both dyed their hair for their respective parts. We're not sure if that was done because the parts called for it, or because their co-stars and the audience would have struggled to identify the characters if they didn't! Chastain came into acting through the famed and prestigious Juilliard School in New York, whereas Howard was born to do what she does; she's the daughter of director and 'Happy Days' star Ron Howard.

28. Rachel Bilson and Selena Gomez

It's a second appearance on the list for Selena Gomez, which puts her into the same category as Ed Sheeran! Not only do people confuse her with Lucy Hale, but she also has Rachel Bilson as a doppelganger. On the plus side, we suppose that if there are two people out there being asked for autographs and pictures as if they were you, that should be a 66% reduction in people actually bothering you about it directly.

Bilson probably takes the resemblance as a compliment; she's actually older than Gomez by a full decade, although as Gomez matures the similarities are becoming more apparent. There aren't many people in their mid-30s who'd be offended by people thinking they looked so much younger. She'd probably appreciate it if she could also benefit by having Gomez's media profile, though; she hasn't had a movie role since 2014, although she's doing a fine job starring as Sam Swift in 'Take Two'.

29. Dane Cook and Skylar Astin

Contrary to what a lot of people seem to believe, Dane Cook didn't make an unlikely comeback from the atrocious 'Good Luck Chuck' by learning to sing and appearing in the 'Pitch Perfect' movies. That was Skylar Astin, who's actually an awful lot younger than Cook, although if you compare photos of them at the same age it's almost impossible to know which is which.

A lot of people who are known for being good looking worry that their looks will fade when they get a little older. That's one of the reasons why so many celebrities opt for plastic surgery! Astin shouldn't have to worry about that at all; he just has to look at Cook and use him as a reference guide for what he's going to look like when he reaches his forties. So long as he steers clear of career-wreckingly bad film roles, everything about his future looks positive!

30. Chandra Wilson and Alex Newell

Who said that two people need to be the same sex to look alike? We even think that when Alex Newell was playing Unique on 'Glee' (aren't there a lot of Glee alumni on this list?), he was actually deliberately channeling Chandra Wilson in places. He's never said so himself; he cites Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and Chaka Khan as his primary influences, but at times the performance was so reminiscent that there's no way he didn't have her in mind.

Wilson is one of the stalwarts of 'Grey's Anatomy', having been in the show since 2005, and showing no signs of giving her role up any time soon. If anybody needs to play her younger self in flashback scenes; or there's call for a story involving a relative of her turning up in her life, they could do a lot worse than give Newell a call.

31. Chace Crawford and Ian Somerhalder

This might be a case of current men's fashion creating lookalikes than an actual strong physical resemblance. The current vogue for good looking men is to have slightly unkempt hair, and a little stubble to make them look grizzled. Both Chace Crawford and Ian Somerhalder are absolutely on point with that look, and it results in one being mistaken for the other every now and then. We suppose the fact that both have a strong jawline doesn't hurt, either.

We have 'Gossip Girl' and 'Vampire Diaries' to thank for bringing both of these handsome chaps into the limelight. Somerhalder probably has the better body of work up to and including the present day, but as he's eight years Crawford's senior, he had something of a head start. Crawford, at 31, probably still hasn't hit his peak.

32. Jeremy Irons and Daniel Day-Lewis

Come on, now. We found this hard to believe, but apparently there are people out there who've watched 'Gangs of New York' and thought they were actually seeing a career defining performance by Jeremy Irons. Both men are British, over 60, and are celebrated veterans of the acting world, but that's about as far as the comparison goes. OK, they both have gray hair, too. And they appear to have the same nose. And dimples, too. Actually, now we've thought about it, maybe those of you who think they look alike have a point.

The famously private Day-Lewis is a notoriously private man when he's away from the cameras but is known to take the 'method' approach to his parts, taking his acting very seriously and completely committing himself to the role he's playing. Maybe it's possible that for all these years, Irons has actually just been Day-Lewis giving the performance of a lifetime?

33. Ellen Barkin and Cameron Diaz

How has this one flown under the radar for so many years? Yes, Ellen Barkin is a little older than Cameron Diaz, but they have exactly the same face. The eyes, the nose, the lips; they're all identical. They even cut and style their hair the same way. Are they doing it on purpose? Much like Dane Cook and Skylar Astin, Diaz could use Barkin as a reference guide for how she's likely to look when she gets older, and as Barkin could pass for someone much, much younger, she has to be happy with the prospect!

We may however never get to see what Diaz looks like when she reaches her 60s. In 2014, she decided to completely retire from acting and public life, and she's stuck to it, with no TV or film appearances since she decided enough was enough. Barkin, by contrast, is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down, as active today as she ever has been.

34. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Javier Bardem

Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be a good candidate to appear on an episode of 'Who Do You Think You Are?'. We suspect he'd find out that he actually has some Spanish ancestry. He might also find out that he's directly related to Javier Bardem. It would explain why they look like they're cousins, at the very least! Both of them wear their beard and hair the same way, and they're going gray at the same time, which only adds to the similarities.

Morgan was actually a basketball prospect in high school, but had his athletic prospects limited by a severe knee injury. Fortunately, it hasn't stopped him from running away from zombies in 'The Walking Dead'. Bardem's first love was actually painting, and he only started acting to help himself pay the bills, but gradually fell in love with the profession.

35. Jai Courtney and Phillip Phillips

Phillip Phillips - so good they named him twice- is best known to audiences as a winner of TV talent show 'American Idol'. His winning song 'Home' is actually still the biggest selling 'American Idol' song of all time. He did not, however, appear as the son of Bruce Willis' character John McClane in the forgettable fifth 'Die Hard' movie, 'A Good Day to Die Hard'. That was Jai Courtney.

Courtney's entry into the 'Die Hard' franchise was intended to position him as a successor to Willis, allowing the films to continue with a new central character after Willis becomes too old to play the part. It didn't exactly go to plan. The film had poor reviews, bombed in the United States, and only turned a profit because it did well abroad. If they want to try again, they could recast the part to Phillips now he's moved into acting and see if he has better luck.

36. Zachary Quinto & Eli Roth

There is a strange symmetry to Zachary Quinto and Eli Roth. Roth is best known for his horror movies, where he creates ghoulish characters and murderers. Quinto has spent much of his career doing movies or shows like 'American Horror Story', where he always seems to be playing murderers (although thankfully not on the Enterprise when he's playing Spock in 'Star Trek'! It's a wonder that the two have never worked together. Maybe it would be too confusing for everybody on set, because they really do look like brothers.

Roth does occasionally make appearances in front of the camera as well as behind it, but we suppose there's no great call for him to do it more often when Quinto is walking around with the same face and does the job better. He's so committed to the horror genre that despite working since 1998, he didn't release a film with a rating lower than 'R' until 2018!

37. Dana Delany and Mimi Rogers

You have to catch these two ladies on the right day and in the right mood for this lookalike to work. Dara Delany and Mimi Rogers have both changed their hair color and style several times down the years, but when they're both on the same trend at the same time, they definitely look like each other. The resemblance goes deeper than that, too; if you close your eyes and listen to them talk, they actually have very similar voices. Lookalikes and soundalikes!

Despite the fact that they've both been in showbiz for so many years, somehow Delany and Rogers have never worked together. How is that even possible? When you throw in the fact that they're the same age and they were born in the same year, they might as well be twins. Somebody in Hollywood needs to pick up their pen and write a great script about two 60-something twins going on an adventure, before it's too late.

38. Drea de Matteo and Portia de Rossi

Glamorous blondes with exotic Italian names and heritage; we bet if Drea de Mattero and Portia de Rossi sat down and traced their family trees backwards, they'd intersect at some point. Absolutely everything about them looks identical, and even though we're being told that they're definitely not the same person, we're not convinced. There's no way two people who aren't even related, let alone twins, should look that much alike!

People generally remember de Matteo best from her role in 'The Sopranos'. She starred in 'Friends' spin off 'Joey', too, but she'd rather people didn't talk about that. Whilst the way most people know of de Rossi is as Ellen DeGeneres's wife, she's a talented and varied actress, who broke out as a star after appearing in 'Ally McBeal'. She retired from acting in 2018, although clarified that she'd still continue to appear in 'Arrested Development', which she's starred in since 2003.

39. Jordana Brewster and Demi Moore

You have to hand it to Demi Moore. She's well into her 50s now, and yet she still manages to maintain an appearance that gives her more than a passing resemblance to Jordanna Brewster, even though Brewster is almost twenty years younger than her. Brewster doesn't look any older than she is, either; Moore just looks fantastic. We hope we can age as gracefully as she does!

Moore is well known for both looking and acting younger than her years; she was involved in a May-to-December relationship with Ashton Kutcher for many years, and is still offered parts that would normally be reserved for actresses in their 40s. Brewster doesn't have a hugely varied portfolio, but at the same time she'll never have to worry about where her next job's coming from so long as they keep making 'Fast and Furious' movies!

40. Emmanuelle Chriqui and JWoww

This is getting silly now. This is just two different pictures of the same person, taking under different lighting, isn't it? Apparently not. One of these women is Emmanuelle Chriqui, and the other one is JWoww. Good luck working out which is which.

Chriqui is one of the more prolific performers out there in the world of television and film, racking up an impressive number of credits year on year, but is still probably best known for being the star of 'Encourage', which made her a regular fixture towards the top of 'World's Sexiest Women' lists. JWoww, real name Jennifer Farley, was one of the original stars of 'Jersey Shore', and still appears regularly with Snooki in various spin offs from the original program. We suppose we could say that both of them have an awful encourage, then. Sorry, reality TV fans!

41. Benicio Del Toro and Brad Pitt

We don't know what kind of witchcraft has gone on in the past ten years or so with these two. Go back to the turn of the century, and Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro looked nothing alike. Look at them now, and it's like seeing two photos of the same person; one taken when they've just woken up (which would be Del Toro), and one when they've had time to groom themselves and prepare for an evening out. That, obviously, would be Pitt. This isn't intended as a slight at Del Toro's expense either; most men would be flattered to be compared to Pitt in any way at all, even if he is in his 50s now.

Pitt seems to have entered a grunge phase as he's got older, tending to wear his hair longer, and experimenting with several lengths of beard. Whether he picked up any tips directly from Del Toro, who's been in beard club for a very long time, is unknown.

42. Fabio Lanzoni and Jon Hamm

We make this comparison with apologies to Mr. Jon Hamm and his legion of loving, dedicated followers, who are going to be upset by us making it. However, the evidence speaks for itself. If you put a blonde wig on Hamm, and gave him some tinted blue contact lenses, he becomes Fabio Lanzoni, the model and actor generally known simply as 'Fabio'.

Fame came to Hamm relatively late in his career; he was already well into 30s by the time he accepted a role on 'Mad Men' and really made his name. Whilst Fabio is considerably older, he kept himself in great shape, releasing fitness DVDs and generally battling against the years. Think about this; have you seen Fabio recently? When did you stop seeing Fabio? When did you start seeing Hamm? Has anyone seen them in the same room at the same time?

43. Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly

Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly. Both of these talented ladies are models and actresses, but which one of them is also a recording artist? If you think you've seen Kelly up on the stage belting out songs, you've got the wrong one. Meester has a number of charting singles to her name as well as one album. Having said that, given the similarities between them, it wouldn't surprise us at all if Kelly could sing, too.

Confusingly for audiences, both Meester and Kelly have appeared on screen at the same time and interacted. In the 2011 movie 'The Roommate', there was a scene where Meester's character attempted to murder Kelly's (presumably because she couldn't stand how much she looked like her!), which gave viewers a hard time trying to work out which character was in danger.

44. Logan Marshall-Green and Tom Hardy

In recent years, Tom Hardy seems to have the market for brooding, believably tough guys who can also give convincing performances completely locked down. That has to be seriously frustrating for Logan Marshall-Green, who possesses all the same physical qualities that Hardy does and is equally as gifted as an actor. It's almost like Hardy is Marshall-Green's secret British brother.

Marshall-Green has made headway into the more 'action' style movies that we usually associate Hardy with recently, appearing in the most recent entries in both the 'Alien' and 'Spiderman' franchises, so perhaps he's finally started to chip away at Hardy's monopoly. We think he's got some way to go before he really snatches the 'best tough guy' mantle away though; Hardy is due to appear on the big screen playing Al Capone. Yes, Marshall-Green is tough, but is he 'world's most notorious gangster' tough?

45. Victoria Justice and Nina Dobrev

In 'The Vampire Diaries', Nina Dobrev spent years playing not only the major part of Elena Gilbert, but also Katherine Pierce, Amara, and several other smaller roles across the course of the many years she was in the show. She finally left in 2015, presumably having decided that the strain of playing so many roles at once was no longer sustainable. She should have just given Victoria Justice a call. Justice could have stepped in to cover at least one of the parts for her, and nobody would have noticed. OK, maybe they'd have noticed the accent change. But you can cover that in the edit, right?

Justice would probably have been all for working in collaboration with Dobrev, too. She's an outspoken charity campaigner and activist, who has spoken in the past about the importance of women working together; appearing as an artist on the 'Unite for Girls' tour which traveled across the United States in 2010.

46. Haley Bennett and Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is a compelling and convincing actress. Making us sincerely believe that she's somebody else is kind of what she does. That's why we think she might occasionally let her hair down a little and hit the town as Haley Bennett. That's what Bennett makes us think of; a slightly relaxed Lawrence heading out to party. With a slightly different hair color. That bone structure is just identical!

Bennett managed to stick around in the showbiz world with a show of bravado. She was on the verge of being forced to move away from Los Angeles because she had no representation and was getting nowhere; she'd had extended conversations with an agent, but no formal offer. Eventually, she just lied to the agent and said she'd had an offer from elsewhere. The agent bought the lie and signed her on the spot.

47. Dakota Johnson and Gillian Anderson

During her many years playing agent Dana Scully in TV's 'The X Files', Gillian Anderson investigated all manner of strange happenings. Most of them involved aliens. Perhaps she should have maintained a closer focus on the world around her. She could have investigated how and why a clone of her, born many years later, would eventually grow up and star in '50 Shades of Gray' as Dakota Johnson!

Johnson was almost a complete unknown when she landed the role in the film, and it took us a while to work out where we'd seen those eyes, lips and nose before. It was the hair that threw us. Do away with that fringe and you're looking at Anderson, exactly as she appeared in the mid-90s. Are they related? Is she a clone? Is there something otherworldly at play? The truth is out there.

48. Channing Tatum and Wentworth Miller

A few entries ago, we talked about Tom Hardy and Logan Marshall-Green, and how Hardy probably keeps Marshall-Green out of the best jobs. That problem looks like it might have repeated itself with Channing Tatum and Wentworth Miller. There are a few years between the two leading men, but they're in such great shape that you'd never know either one of them was much beyond their mid-30s. In terms of profile, though, Tatum puts Miller in the shade.

Given that Miller's 'Prison Break' escapades should have firmly established him as a potential action movie star, it seems odd that he's never quite made that big screen breakthrough. It's almost like Tatum is the guy who plays Miller in the movie of his life. Tatum is also the younger of the two, so it's not even like he'll retire first and Miller will finally get the chance to show what he can do. Sometimes, having an equally skilled doppelganger is a curse!

49. Jennifer Garner and Hilary Swank

Same hairstyle. Same features. Same eyes. Roughly the same age. The only thing that Jennifer Gardner and Hilary Swank don't have in common is what they've got in their trophy cabinets at home. Swank is a two-time Oscar winner. Garner, rather rudely for someone of her obvious talents, is still waiting for her first nomination. How she didn't get one for 'Juno' is beyond us. Is it too late to write to somebody and complain?

Swank is one of Hollywood's bonafide leading ladies, having taken home the best actress Oscar for both 'Boys Don't Cry' and 'Million Dollar Baby'; two entirely different parts which serve to demonstrate her range as a performer. Garner and Swank are aware of the resemblance and have both said that they routinely sign autographs as each other, having given one another permission to do exactly that!

50. Javier Bardem and Robert Downey Junior

We'll close this list out by allowing one more person to join Ed Sheeran and Selena Gomez on the exclusive 'double lookalike' list, and it's Javier Bardem! Not only does he have Jeffrey Dean Morgan to worry about as a spitting image of him, there's also Robert Downey Junior. How do three people who look so similar end up being successful in the movie business?

Red carpet ceremonies and celebrity gatherings must be a real nightmare for Bardem's wife, Penelope Cruz. Every time she goes to the toilet and comes back, she could accidentally find herself on the arm of Downey Junior or Dean Morgan by mistake. Imagine trying to explain that to Bardem! If the three of them ever met and made physical contact at the same time, we suspect it would cause a rift in the space-time continuum. It's the responsibility of production companies and directors to ensure it never happens.
