Unfiltered Celebrity Quotes About Their Divorces

Entertainment | By Julio Childress | August 19, 2018

Divorce can be one of the toughest things people go through. There's a sense of loss, and sometimes even a sense of shame for not making something work. After all, most wedding vows involve saying that you'll stick by your partner through better or worse. It can make you rethink yourself as a person.

Divorce can feel so isolating because your marriage was something you shared with one specific person. No one else can know how your marriage felt, or how it feels to lose it. You'd think that money and fame would help alleviate the negative feelings that come from divorce, but at the end of the day, divorce is divorce. It hurts no matter who you are.

These celebrities have gone through some very messy, public divorces. In some ways, that means that their relationships had an entirely new set of issues that us common folk aren't even used to having. Hopefully their quotes on divorce can connect with you if you're currently going through a similar situation, or if you're trying to avoid it. What Ryan Reynolds said about divorcing Scarlett will absolutely stun you!

1. Angelina Jolie

"I was very worried about my mother, growing up-a lot. I do not want my children to be worried about me. I think it's very important to cry in the shower and not in front of them. They need to know that everything's going to be all right even when you're not sure it is." - Angelina Jolie on her divorce from Brad Pitt.

We all know this story. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, two of the most beautiful people on Earth, somehow managed to fall in love. After having six children together, three of whom were adopted internationally, they cemented themselves as the most prototypical Hollywood couple. The thing about being a Hollywood couple, is that it means your relationship most likely won't last long. That's exactly what happened. They got divorced after only two years of marriage, citing Brad Pitt's frequent alcohol abuse.

2. Jessica Simpson

"It was like a death in the family: You go through the mourning stage, then the rebellion, and then all of a sudden you have to find life by yourself." - Jessica Simpson on her divorce from Nick Lachey

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey had a very public marriage due to their MTV show, Newlyweds. It was a reality show that chronicled their lives as, you guessed it, newlyweds. That's a lot of strain to put on a newly married couple, which as we know, did not end well. The show was known for Jessica Simpson's incredibly ditzy behavior. Nick Lachey never looked happy interacting with her. While no one thinks the reality TV show is the sole reason they broke it off, it definitely could not have helped. Take not, don't get married and immediately jump into a reality show.

3. Naomi Watts

"I feel, whether you're famous or not, transitions are scary for anybody. I feel like change is always scary, but that's only because transition for anyone is new and you wonder how things are going to go." - Naomi Watts on separation from Liev Schreiber.

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber are both busy, well-known actors, which they've cited as a reason for their split. It's hard to keep a connection with someone you might not see that often. When the relationship needs to be worked on, neither party is there to work on it. Reports say that Watts took the divorce much better than Schreiber, who said: "I DON'T like everybody not living in the same house anymore." The two of them were together for eleven years and have two sons: Sasha, 10, and Kai, 8.

4. Drew Barrymore

"When you break up with somebody, you're like, 'Yeah, that didn't work.' When you get divorced, you're like, 'I'm the biggest failure. This is the biggest failure.' It's so shameful and hard to actually go through that, even privately." - Drew Barrymore on her divorce from Will Kopelman.

Many people grew up with Drew Barrymore ever since seeing her in the movie E.T. I know that I practically did. I was her same age in that movie, so I've been there for all her crazy moments and divorces. Good thing the press wasn't paying attention to me during those times. Will Kopelman is an actor, though he doesn't have more than two movie credits. Heck, even I have more credits than that. The two of them have two daughters together named Frankie and Olive.

5. Jenny Slate

A divorce moves at the speed of complete deadening silence, or that's how it feels." - Jenny Slate on her divorce from Dean Fleischer-Camp.

Jenny Slate is one of the funniest comedians and voice actors working today. You've probably heard her voice in movies like 'Zootopia' and 'The Secret Life of Pets.' She has a knack for voicing animals. She was also a cast member on Saturday Night Live, though her tenure wasn't that long. Dean Fleischer-Camp is a film editor. The two of them were married for four years before splitting amicably. The relationship simply wasn't working anymore, according to them. Shortly after the split, Jenny Slate started dating Chris Evans. I wonder if she wasn't sure if she was dating Chris Evans, Chris Pine, or Chris Pratt. I'm sometimes not sure which ones I'm watching.

6. Elisabeth Moss

"Looking back, I feel like I was really young, and at the time I didn't think that I was that young. It was extremely traumatic and awful and horrible. At the same time, it turned out for the best. I'm glad that I'm not there. I'm glad that it didn't happen when I was 50. I'm glad I didn't have kids. And I got that out of the way. Hopefully. Like, that's probably not going to happen again." - Elisabeth Moss on her divorce from Fred Armisen.

Elisabeth Moss is known for her work in 'Mad Men' and the bleak series, 'Handmaid's Tale.' While it's not certain if her marriage to Fred Armisen was anything like a 'Handmaid's Tale,' her recounting of their marriage in the quote above feels like anything but roses and sunshine.

7. Mary J Blige

"You start to realize that this man doesn't want you and he's just gone all the time and you're by yourself in the relationship." - Mary J. Blige on her separation from Kendu Isaacs.

Mary J Blige is an absolute queen. She's made some of the best music in the last two decades. One of my favorite songs of hers is "No More Drama," though it sounds like drama eventually found her. Her marriage to Kendu Isaacs recently came to its final conclusion when their divorce was finalized in early 2018. It wasn't a clean divorce though. Isaacs allegedly spent hundreds of thousands of Blige's money traveling with a woman he was having an affair with. Their divorce was ugly considering that Isaacs demanded thirty thousand dollars a month from Blige, though Blige didn't think he deserved any of that considering his cheating ways.

8. Wiz Khalifa

"I learned how to be present where I need to be present. I'd been present in the relationship, but at that age and with what was going on, it just wasn't right for me. It helps to walk away sometimes, even though it was super hard." - Wiz Khalifa on divorce from Amber Rose.

Wiz Khalifa is one of the best hip hop musicians living today and Amber Rose is best known for breaking up with Kanye West. If you don't know who Amber Rose is, then don't feel bad. Her and Wiz Khalifa have a young son together, and the breakup is cited as being due to Wiz Khalifa getting caught cheating. While both had rumors of cheating, Wiz was the one who got caught though he claims that the marriage was over before he got caught.

9. Danica McKeller

"The end of a marriage has got to be one of the saddest events one can experience. I've heard that the pain [of divorce] is second only to an actual death in the family, and that sounds about right." - Danica McKellar on her divorce from Mike Verta.

Danica McKellar is best known for filling our hearts with melancholy acting in the series 'The Wonder Years.' The series follow a boy named Kevin Arnold on his journey from childhood into young adulthood. Danica McKellar played his love interest, Winnie Cooper. Her ex-husband, Mike Verta, is a composer. The two of them had one child together. A son named, Draco. I guess they wanted him to grow up to become an evil villain. That's kind of odd coming from a woman who is named after a pooh.

10. Jennifer Lopez

"There's no pain or failure like going through a divorce." - Jennifer Lopez on her divorce from Marc Anthony.

When it comes to huge Latin stars, Jennifer Lopez certainly are two very recognizable names. Put them together and it's almost unfair how much star power you have in that couple. Unfortunately, two people being very talented is not enough to keep a relationship together, even if they could put on a hell of a show. As great as a couple as Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony seemed, they couldn't make it stick. They were married for ten years between 2004 and 2014. It seems as though they are still on good terms. In the past year when Marc Anthony's mother died, J Lo posted a sweet picture commemorating her memory. Together they have two children, Max and Emme.

11. Russell Brand

"I have come away from that experience and I still feel very warm towards her...When I hear about her or see her, I think 'Ah, there's that person, that person in the world.'" - Russell Brand on his divorce from Katy Perry.

When Russell Brand and Katy Perry first split, Brand was not very kind towards Perry. That's not a great plan of action considering her fan base is rabidly protective. He criticized her for being a vacuous celebrity, though I don't know what he was expecting when marrying a pop star. I'm not saying all pop stars are vapid, but there's a part of the job that involves being a little into yourself. They were together for fourteen months before splitting. Nowadays Russell Brand has much more positive things to say about his marriage with Katy Perry.

12. Mandy Moore

"I think I spent a good portion of the last years of my life really pouring all of my energy into my life and relationship, and now that that's sort of not part of my life any more. It's just not a coincidence to me that things sort of opened back up, and I'm able to focus back on myself again." - Mandy Moore on her divorce from Ryan Adams.

Nowadays when we think about Mandy Moore and marriage, we think about the fictional marriage to Jack in the series 'This is Us.' I can confidently say that Jack is the ideal man for most women. Please don't compare us mortal men to him. We'll fail at comparing! Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams, a singer, were married for six years. Here's the good news for Ryan: heartache leads to great music.

13. Gavin Rossdale

"Apart from death, I think divorce is one of the hardest, most painful things to go through." - Gavin Rossdale on his divorce from Gwen Stefani.

The main reason for Gavin Rossdale's, frontman for the band Bush, and Gwen Stefani's divorce was his three year affair with their nanny. A divorce issue like that causes fans to immediately take sides. In this example, everyone immediately took Gwen Stefani's side because she wasn't the one who cheated. Funny how that works. The two of them were together for twelve years, which is quite incredible. For two rockstars to make it that long is quite an amazing feat. These days Gavin says he regrets the divorce, but what's done is done. They continue to co-parent their three children together, who Gavin says are cool, kind and interesting.

14. Yolanda Hadid

"I try to make light of it and joke that he married a lemon. It's sad but true. I went from being the funny girlfriend who was up for anything and had endless energy to the wife who is too sick to be by his side." - Yolanda Hadid on her divorce from David Foster.

Yolanda Hadid is a former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star who was married to music producer, David Foster. Who are these people? To be honest, the only reason I know her at all is by her model children, Bella and Gigi Hadid. Yolanda Hadid suffered from lyme disease, which she cited as a reason for the divorce. David Foster does not agree with this, but regardless, the marriage ended amicably with David Foster giving her a nice settlement. The two were only married for four years.

15. Kevin Hart

"In my divorce, I stood up and said to my ex-wife, 'Hey, I messed up. This had nothing to do with you. I didn't understand what marriage was. I cheated. I was wrong.' We couldn't fix it; it got worse. I stepped away because I didn't want it to get any worse. 'You're the mother of my kids - I don't want to hate you.'" - Kevin Hart on his divorce from Torrei Hart.

Marriage can be hard when one person quickly rises to fame the way Kevin Hart did. That kind of stardom comes with many temptations. The most notable temptation for a man will be women on the road. That's exactly what got Kevin Hart into trouble, though we can see by the quote that he's perfectly ready to admit that. I don't think he'll have a hard time finding another woman.

16. Kaley Cuoco

"You know what, I'm not ashamed of anything that happened. I fall in love really hard, I do. I go deep. That person is it for me. And I love hard, and when it's over, it's over, and some people make mistakes. [I] wouldn't call it a mistake, it just is what happened in my life, so I'm excited to see what the future holds. It happened, and now I have to say I'm happier than I've ever been." - Kaley Cuoco on her divorce from Ryan Sweeting.

Kaley Cuoco is a huge television star from one of the most popular shows on television: The Big Bang Theory. She has been openly vocal about her ex-husband, Ryan Sweeting, ever since the divorce. He is a professional tennis player. She is now happily with someone else, Karl Cook.

17. Heidi Klum

"People say, 'Oh, God, how devastating to go through a divorce.' Did I wish for this to happen to my family? No. But everyone is healthy; we're moving on with our lives." - Heidi Klum on her divorce from Seal.

Heidi Klum should be considered a national treasure. Of every nation. She's the incredible model turned businesswoman. She's the queen of Project Runway, and still struts her stuff, especially when she's wearing her well-known elaborate Halloween costumes (seriously. Google 'Heidi Klum Halloween costumes.' You won't be disappointed). Her ex-husband, Seal, is a well known singer. His song "Kiss from a Rose" is still a huge hit to this day. It's reported that Seal had a volatile temper and a knack for partying hard, which led to their divorce. As far as children, they had three of them.

18. Katy Perry

"[Divorce] was emotionally traumatic for me. It was the death of a dream. I was in fairytale land, and the reality of it wasn't so. But I don't really like talking about it anymore, because it feels like a thousand lifetimes ago, and also it makes me look desperate, like I need it for attention." - Katy Perry on her divorce from Russell Brand.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand's divorce was especially jarring since you can see it all go down in the Katy Perry movie, 'Part of Me.' It's a heart wrenching scene where the two break it off over the phone only minutes before Katy Perry has to begin her concert. Russell Brand is a comedian and actor, and even the mildest bit of research will show you that he's a wild child to say the least.

19. Chris Martin

"You can come at it very aggressively and blame and blame. Or you can put yourself in the garage, so to speak. Take yourself apart and clean off the bits. Reassemble." - Chris Martin on divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow.

The marriage between Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't just some Hollywood fling. The two of them were together for thirteen years and had two children together. According to them, their marriage had been over for a year prior to their announcement of "conscious uncoupling." In that year they tried to make it work, but sometimes the only thing you can do is consciously uncouple, whatever that means. Martin blames himself for not being a more emotionally open person during their marriage. His own issues had prevented him from being a good husband. If that sounds familiar, it's time to open up.

20. Reese Witherspoon

"There are things in my life that are hard to reconcile, like divorce. Sometimes it is very difficult to make sense of how it could possibly happen. Laying blame is so easy. I don't have time for hate or negativity in my life. There's no room for it." - Reese Witherspoon on her divorce from Ryan Phillippe.

Reese Witherspoon and her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe met on the set of 'Cruel Intentions.' It's a classic case of two co-stars falling in love in the film, and in real life. Reese was very young when they got married. She was only twenty-three. Five years later, they would have two kids together, Deacon and Ava. Ava is eighteen now, and Deacon is thirteen. Crazy to think that her daughter is almost at the same age that she got married!

21. Nicole Kidman

"I think that divorce is hard for anyone. It's a nightmare, it just is, and you can pretend you're fine. And days you're great [and] days you're not great." - Nicole Kidman on her divorce from Tom Cruise.

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise are Hollywood royalty. I'm pretty sure Tom Cruise is a superhuman, actually. Just take all of her action scenes from the Mission Impossible series as proof. It must be hard to be married to a superhuman. The two of them got married after Nicole Kidman auditioned for a role in Days of Thunder. One year later they would be married, but in 2001, Tom Cruise decided for divorce. People cite Scientology as a possible reason why he left her, which would be the first, but not the last time that Scientology got in the way of one of his marriages.

22. Katie Holmes

"I don't have any fear now, I don't have a lot of rules for myself, and I don't take myself that seriously."- Katie Holmes on her divorce from Tom Cruise.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have had an interesting marriage and divorce, mostly due to Tom Cruise's involvement with Scientology. It seems that even now, every week there is a new story about how Tom Cruise hasn't seen his kids, or is trapped in Scientology. Rumors say that there were marriage rules set out by Cruise, including a "no noises during birth" rule, and a "no public dating" rule. The no public dating rule is something I can understand, given that they are both huge stars. As far as the no noises during birth, Tom must not have a grasp on what birth entails. Screaming and noise is pretty much a given.

23. Kim Kardashian

"I've always been the type to fall in love fast and, with every boyfriend, I plan out my wedding in my head. It's taught me to take things slow. Anyone would want to move on and take the lesson learned from it. I loved this person, it just wasn't the right situation for me. I try to hold my head up high and live my life." - Kim Kardashian on her divorce from Kris Humphries.

A lot can be said about Kim Kardashian. Most of it can't be said while maintaining a PG rating though, so it can be a little difficult. Kim was only married to Kris Humphries for 72 days before they filed for divorce. According to Kim, she knew the marriage was over by the time they got to the honeymoon. She rushed into marriage thinking that she had reached that time in her life. Now she's happily married to Kanye West.

24. Ryan Phillippe

"[Divorce was] the darkest, saddest place I had ever been. It was a struggle - there were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed. It was the worst time in my life. You get through it. It's a process that's not easy, but I get less and less sad about it every day." - Ryan Phillippe on his divorce from Reese Witherspoon.

Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon's biggest mistake was getting married so young. That can cause problems, especially when you're part of the Hollywood scene where you may not have time to bond with your new partner. There are rumors that the marriage needed because Ryan cheated with actress Abby Cornish, though she won't return my calls to confirm. Phillippe is currently dating a civil rights lawyer. What is he trying to do, be George Clooney or something?

25. Khloe Kardashian

"I miss what we had-things we got to do together are just memories. I like looking back and holding on to that stuff. I definitely miss it, and there's times I'll get so sentimental and so sad, but this had to happen for some reason. I'll figure it out over time. Someone will give me that answer eventually." - Khloé Kardashian on her divorce from Lamar Odom.

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian had a roller coaster marriage due to his drug problems and cheating scandals. He ended up in a coma after overdosing on drugs in 2015. They were married from 2009 to 2013. The entire relationship was very rushed, but if I ever had a chance with a Kardashian, I'd be rushing things too. After his cheating and overdosing, she left him and started a new relationship with Tristan Thompson.

26. Courtney Cox

"I think you really need to work in a relationship, and I think that we tried. We're just really different, too. I'm the polar opposite of him. That can be great for a lot of things, but I need this kind of real, one-on-one connection." - Courteney Cox on her divorce from David Arquette.

Courtney Cox is most famous for her role as Monica on the hit show 'Friends,' though her acting pedigree goes well beyond that one show. David Arquette is a movie star as well. The two of them met while filming 'Scream.' They married in 1999 and have a daughter named Coco who was born in 2004. The two stayed together until 2013 when they finally got divorced after being separated for two years. Now the scary movie is their wedding video.

27. Brad Pitt

"I heard one lawyer say, 'No one wins in court-it's just a matter of who gets hurt worse.' And it seems to be true, you spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you're right and why they're wrong, and it's just an investment in vitriolic hatred. I just refuse. And fortunately, my partner in this agrees. It's just very, very jarring for the kids, to suddenly have their family ripped apart." - Brad Pitt on his divorce from Angelina Jolie.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had built so much together, including a family. That can make divorce incredibly difficult, even if the two people involved want what's best for each other. It certainly can't help that they have six children. Who does the court award custody to in that situation?

28. Denise Richards

"I was surprised how much that affected me work wise...I was perceived as being a lunatic and crazy. There are people that have [since] come up to me and apologized for drinking the Kool-Aid...It was hard." - Denise Richards on her divorce from Charlie Sheen.

Charlie Sheen is a volatile person in Hollywood. All I need as proof is the term "tiger blood." Before he was having sex with pornstars and contracting HIV, he was married to the amazingly beautiful and talented Denise Richards. They were married from 2001 to 2005, and had two daughter together in that time. In fact, Denise Richards was pregnant with their second daughter when she filed for divorce. It did not end well in those early days. Richards had a three hundred foot restraining order put on him, banning him from seeing her or his children except for on supervised visits.

29. Madonna

"I'm very grateful that I had work to do. I may have thrown myself off a building." - Madonna on her divorce from Guy Ritchie.

There's no doubt that Madonna is a larger than life personality. She's Madonna, after all. I can't imagine it being easy to be married to someone who is so grandiose and important to the world. The only person who had a shot was Guy Ritchie, who is a big personality in his own right. Their relationship problems were exacerbated after Madonna fell from a horse and severely injured herself. Guy wasn't used to seeing the all-mighty Madonna in a vulnerable position, so he wasn't there for her. That was only the beginning, as Madonna would eventually have an affair with Alex Rodriguez after her and Guy Ritchie became so emotionally distant that there was no more spark in their relationship.

30. Christina Aguilera

"I knew there would be a negative reaction in the press to my divorce, but I am not going to live my life because of something someone might say." - Christina Aguilera on her divorce from Jordan Bratman.

Christina Aguilera has been part of the public eye ever since she was very young. Just like Britney Spears, many Americans grew up with her. That makes audiences very protective of those types of stars. These two were together for five years, at least in marriage. They had dated for four years before that. In that time they had a son together named Max. Jason Bratman isn't a famou star or anything, which goes to show you that marriage doesn't always fail just because two of the people are famous. One famous person is enough to ruin a marriage.

31. Amy Poehler

"Imagine spreading everything you care about on a blanket and then tossing the whole thing up in the air. The process of divorce is about loading that blanket, throwing it up, watching it all spin, and worrying what stuff will break when it lands." - Amy Poehler on her divorce from Will Arnett

Comedy nerds were so stoked when Amy Poehler and Will Arnett got married. Two of the funniest people on Earth making babies? Those two alone could fuel the next generation of comedians. They could be the white Wayans family. They have two boys named Archie and Abel, and they have been on record to say that their main focus is making sure that they raise their boys well. As far as their reasons for divorce, Amy Poehler has not been public about the reasons.

32. Ashton Kutcher

"Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail."- Ashton Kutcher on his divorce from Demi Moore.

If you remember Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore's relationship, then you remember all the jokes about him going after an older woman. That age difference became a problem in their marriage. Demi Moore is sixteen years older than Kutcher, plus she has three older daughters who could be dating Ashton themselves. With Ashton being a bit of a young, wild boy, it was easy for Demi to fall into the mother role. That's not a fun role to be in when you're romantically involved with someone. Surprisingly, they made it six years together before splitting it up. I don't see that as a huge issue for Ashton, considering the fact that he's now happily with Mila Kunis.

33. Tony Parker

"It's not easy to leave a relationship, because when I get involved in something, I want to do well. The exposure, I could not control. This is the world we live in today; everything is on the Internet and on social network sites. I never paid attention to what people said. Hollywood is another world, on another level." - Tony Parker on his divorce from Eva Longoria.

Tony Parker is a player for the San Antonio Spurs, while Eva Longoria is a goddess walking the Earth. She's been in hit TV shows like 'Desperate Housewives.' Their marriage came to an end after Longoria allegedly found hundreds of texts from another woman. This was cited as "irreconcilable differences." I guess we all know what that means now. That's a lawyer term for "he cheated on me! That dirty dog!"

34. Anna Faris

"Life is too short to be in relationships where you feel this isn't fully right or somebody doesn't have your back, or somebody doesn't fully value you. Don't be afraid to feel your independence if things aren't right." - Anna Faris talking about her divorce from Chris Pratt.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt were the perfect goofy couple. Chris Pratt played the lovable goof in the hit TV show Parks and Rec,' and Anna Faris played the lovable goof in a million different movies. Since being married, Chris Pratt's career has evolved into that of one of the hottest action/blockbuster stars around. I'm sure the time away shooting movies didn't help their relationship, especially with Anna Faris being busy acting in television and film herself. They have one child together. A son named Jack.

35. Sharon Stone

"I don't think anybody who's ever been divorced can tell you divorce is easy or fun or feels like anything other than a tremendous failure." - Sharon Stone on her divorce from Phil Bronstein.

No one will forget Sharon Stone's epic movie moment in Basic Instinct. You know the moment I'm talking about even if you haven't seen the movie. That moment cemented her legacy as a film star. Phil Bronstein is a newspaper editor who married Sharon Stone in 1998. Since then they had adopted a son named Roan in 2000. This was three years before they would divorce. Many of their troubles came from Sharon Stone's lupus which caused several miscarriages. Those miscarriages were hard on both of them. According to Sharon Stone: "he just didn't see me, talk to me, look at me."

36. Gwyneth Paltrow

"It was very challenging for me in terms of having to re-assess what that said about me, ideas that I had about that kind of failure." - Gwyneth Paltrow on her divorce from Chris Martin.

You have to give credit to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. I wouldn't say they were the most exciting couple in the world, but they sure left their mark on the culture when they broke up. Gwyneth Paltrow famously made the divorce announcement when she called it their "conscious uncoupling." The term was up for immediate ridicule. What a euphemism! The fact that Paltrow posted about it on her blog, Gloop, made it all the more unintentionally funny. Goop is known for posting outrageous stories, like using egg whites as a feminine hygiene cleaner for example. Or the blog will talk about the most affordable yacht rental services. I honestly don't know who that blog is for.

37. Miranda Lambert

"Every record I've ever made has been a reflection of where I am right then in my life, however old I am. And I've never held back at all. But this time with what I happened to be going through in my life, being honest was never really a choice. Everybody knew anyway. So I just said, I'm gonna journal it, and-good days and bad days-use it for my art." - Miranda Lambert on her divorce from Blake Shelton.

Two country singers being married to each other sounds like one of the most romantic relationships. I picture them sitting under the stars with a guitar, singing together. In actuality, it probably means that you're both on separate tours getting drunk and screwing around. Blake was known for getting around, and enjoying a drink or two. Just watch The Voice. Whatever is in that cup is NOT soda.

38. Olivia Wilde

"You don't want to break up with someone, you don't want to end a marriage, especially if you really like the person; you just know that something's off so you try to change everything else." - Olivia Wilde on divorce from Tao Ruspoli

Olivia Wilde is currently in a marriage with funny guy p[[ of Saturday Night Live fame. The two make an adorable couple, having one child together and arguably hitting the highest point of their careers. Her previous marriage didn't work, however, which may because of the young age she was when they got married. Olivia Wilde was nineteen when she married Tao Ruspoli, a filmmaker and musician. They were married from 2003 to 2011, but then divorced in what appeared to be a clean divorce. Luckily they did not have any children together.

39. Gwen Stefani

"During that time period, I felt like I was down all the way, like, you don't go down lower than that. It was rock bottom. I was so embarrassed, you know what I mean?" - Gwen Stefani on her divorce from Gavin Rossdale.

When it comes to rock star couples, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were among the coolest. Not only did they seem like genuine rock stars, they also seemed like they were genuinely in love. Maybe they were at one point, but that faded. The two of them had three children together - each with very interesting names. Zuma Nesta Rock, Kingston, and Apollo Bowie Flynn. I know what you're thinking. You think that I just made up those names, because there's no way those names can exist. Trust me, it's true. I hope Zuma Nesta Rock took the divorce well.

40. Jennifer Aniston

"There are many stages of grief. It's sad, something coming to an end. It cracks you open, in a way-cracks you open to feeling. When you try to avoid the pain, it creates greater pain. I'm a human being, having a human experience in front of the world. I wish it weren't in front of the world. I try really hard to rise above it." - Jennifer Aniston on her divorce from Brad Pitt.

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt is one of those relationships that people still think about today. It's still very much part of the public discourse. "Will they ever get back together?" A lot of that has to do with Jennifer Aniston's needy public persona. After both of them have had failed marriages since, it may not be too late for the two of them to make it work again.

41. Scarlett Johansson

"I feel I know now more of what I need in a relationship, what I want in a relationship. And I know I have more tools to communicate, not just with my partner, but with myself. That's not necessarily any reflection of who I was married to or what was happening in my marriage, but really where I was in my life." - Scarlett Johansson on divorce from Ryan Reynolds.

Scarlett Johansson was very young when she married Ryan Reynolds. Heck, so was Ryan Reynolds. When you marry that young, you don't necessarily have all the tools you need to succeed in a relationship. That can especially be true when the relationship isn't your main focus. For Scarlett Johansson, her reign as Black Widow was just beginning. The last thing she wanted to think about was Green Lantern.

42. Zsa Zsa Gabor

"Conrad Hilton was very generous to me in the divorce settlement. He gave me 5,000 Gideon Bibles." - Zsa Zsa Gabor on her divorce from Conrad Hilton.

Zsa Zsa Gabor was a former actress who married Conrad Hilton of Hilton fame, as well as eight other men. That's right, she was married nine different times, and only divorced seven of the men she was married to. The eighth marriage was annulled. Those are some really impressive stats. She was known for marrying rich men and taking their assets, because why not? She even had a famous joke: ""I am a marvelous housekeeper: Every time I leave a man I keep his house." She passed away in 2016. She was ninety nine years old at the time of her death. That's a decade for every husband.

43. Kris Jenner

"We work together to make sure that we're both happy. We are well-rounded human beings that are going through a tough time...You just do the best that you can." - Kris Jenner on her divorce from Caitlyn Jenner.

Kris Jenner really had it tough with this one. One day she was living her life, and then her husband says that he's transgender. All of a sudden the focus goes to Caitlyn Jenner. She's making such a brave choice to come out as transgender, but no one ever thinks about the spouse. Certainly it must have been hard for Caitlyn Jenner, but that doesn't take away the shock and strain something like that put on Kris Jenner. The two split up, making some waves in their family, but they eventually all came together to be happy and rich once again.

44. Guy Ritchie

"Our marriage was a three-ring circus in the end. We started as a normal family and tried to live a normal family life, but she wanted something else."- Guy Ritchie on his divorce from Madonna.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie have had plenty of drama over their marriage, or should I say ex-marriage. Guy Ritchie is known for directing the cult classic, 'Snatch,' and the Robert Downey Jr helmed 'Sherlock Holmes.' Things got nasty between Ritchie and Madonna, specifically with toxic things Ritchie would say. A source told Mail Online: "She is alleging he would tell her that she really should give up the live touring and that she looked like a granny compared to the nubile youngsters dancing with her on stage." They also have a son named Rocco who was put in the middle of their battles.

45. Kate Hudson

"The process of discovering with somebody that you love that you don't work is so painful." - Kate Hudson on her divorce from Chris Robinson.

Chris Robinson is the lead singer of the band the Black Crowes, while Kate Hudson is someone you've actually ever heard of. I'm being hard on Chris Robinson, but tell me that you weren't thinking, "who the heck is Chris Robinson?" The two of them had a son named Ryder who was two years old when they split. Kate Hudson was awarded sole custody, but in the last year, Chris Robinson has attempted to gain custody back. It just goes to show you that it's never over when it comes to your exes. According to Hudson, the two of them had a very volatile marriage where they'd fight and scream, followed by taking a long trip together. That doesn't sound so bad actually.

46. Mariah Carey

"I never thought I would have babies with someone and then get divorced. Like, 'Oh, great job. Repeat your past.' But life happens. And it was supposed to happen." - Mariah Carey on her divorce from Nick Cannon.

Nick cannon is an actor and TV personality known for hosting 'Wild'n'Out' and 'America's Got Talent.' Mariah Carey is, of course, the legendary singer. The two had somewhat of an age difference with Nick Cannon being thirty seven, and Mariah Carey being forty eight. One little known fact about Mariah Carey is her bipolar disorder, which he is very supportive of. The two of them have two twins together who are currently six years old, Monroe and Moroccan. They are very good parents together. In fact, they were recently all seen as a family as the Kid's Choice Awards.

47. Eva Longoria

[People] kept saying, 'You look amazing. Divorce agrees with you.' And I was like, 'I don't feel good. I have no energy.' I didn't know I was depressed. I mean, I knew it was a sad moment in my life, but I wouldn't categorize myself as depressed." - Eva Longoria on her divorce from Tony Parker

Eva Longoria's marriage to Tony Parker started in 2007 and ended in 2010. Their relationship was strained from the start. They began dating when Eva Longoria attended a Spurs game and instantly fell for Tony. They broke up early on in their relationship due to distance, but eventually found each other again. Ever since 2007 there had been rumors that Tony was a cheater, but it took three years for Eva to finally find out for herself via hundreds of text messages from another woman.

48. Jennifer Garner

"It's one of the pains in my life that something I believe in so strongly I've completely failed at twice. You have to have two people to dance a marriage. My heart's a little on the tender side right now, and it's always easier to focus on the ways that you feel hurt, but I know that, with time and some perspective, I'll have a clearer sense of where I let the system down, because there's no way I get off in this." - Jennifer Garner on her divorce from Ben Affleck.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's divorce was one of the bigger spectacles of the past five years. Something about their breakup spoke to America. Maybe nothing else was going on, or maybe too much was going on, so we needed to focus on something inconsequential to us.

49. Ryan Reynolds

"Anyone who gets divorced goes through a lot of pain, but you come out of it." - Ryan Reynolds on his divorce from Scarlett Johansson.

If you're like me, you never even realized that these two were married. Maybe I should be spending more time thinking about Ryan Reynolds and scarlett Johansson than I am. Oddly enough, Ryan proposed to Scarlett while he was filming the movie 'The Proposal.' This was only a year after they started dating. That's moving pretty quickly, but I would do the same if it's Scarlett Johansson we're talking about. They weren't married long, which could have been due to both of their careers booming right as they got married. They are both superhero-movie actors, which means they never stop working. That means that we might one day see the two of them on the big screen together as their superhero counterparts.

50. Blake Shelton

"When you have a broken heart-at least, when I do-you got to get it out of your system. You want people to sympathize with you. I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell." - Blake Shelton on his divorce from Miranda Lambert.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert had all the trappings of a perfect couple. They were both country music stars, and they both upheld family values. The only problem is that when you're huge stars, the temptations are too great. Even when you aren't cheating, the tabloids will say you are. That's enough to ruin the trust in a relationship. Now Blake is with Gwen Stefani. That means he's romantically involved with a coworker. I'd love to see how that one ends. I won't be surprised if I see them in the next article like this.
