If you don't know Jim Carrey, we have to wonder if you've been living under a rock your entire life. The highly animated and well-loved actor has starred in some of the all-time classic blockbusters, including Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, Liar Liar, Ace Ventura, The Cable Guy, and much, much more. Despite delivering some of the most quotable movie lines of our times, not many people know that Jim Carrey has a daughter. Now she is all grown up...

Baby Jane

Jane Erin Carrey was born in 1987 to parents Jim Carrey and actress Melissa Wormer. Carrey and Wormer were married in 1987, the same year their daughter was born. Unfortunately, the marriage didn't last and the two split up seven years later.

Growing Up With Hollywood's Funny Man

Being raised by Jim Carrey must have been an absolute blast! As a kid, Jane was lucky enough to attend multiple red-carpet events with her famous dad. "It was definitely fun growing up with having him as a father," she said.

She Still Lived A Normal Life

Though he's wild on screen and one of entertainment's most famous faces, Jim Carrey has always led a relatively private life, which definitely worked for his family. "He's not the most extravagant celebrity, so it was fairly normal growing up, fairly," she explained.

Following In Dad's Footsteps

It must be hard pursuing a career in entertainment when your dad is super famous. But it seems like the talent for performing runs in the family. Jane's passion is singing, and she has even had a brief brush of fame with it.

Hard Living Under a Shadow

Despite what some might perceive as a leg up into the industry, Jane has struggled to find her feet. "It is difficult growing up in the shadow of something and trying to find your place in the world underneath this huge shadow," she revealed.

Sometimes It's Nice

It's not all bad when it comes to having a famous name. "The last name definitely helps and hurts. I feel like there's kind of this pressure to maybe be better, because if I make it somewhere, I run the risk of people saying, 'Oh you only got there because of this.'"

She Wants To Pave Her Own Way

Ultimately, Jane Carrey wants to carve out her own life, separate from her father's fame. She is extremely down to earth and even worked as a waitress, despite the millions of dollars in the family. She saw the value in financial independence.

American Idol

One of the ways Jane decided to strike out on her own was by auditioning for American Idol in 2012, when she was 24 years old. She performed for judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson - and they were totally impressed!

Something To Talk About

Jane's audition song was 'Something to Talk About' by Bonnie Raitt. She made it very clear to the judges that she didn't want any special treatment because of her famous name. But she didn't need to worry, the judges loved her voice.

Life Story

"I am a mom first, and a waitress on and off for like six years, probably. And a musician. My dad is Jim Carrey," she announced at her audition. She went on to say, "I think maybe that's why I'm here, to find my place in the world."

Brief Success

Based totally on merit and the quality of her singing voice, Jane was put through to the next round of American Idol. Unfortunately, she didn't make it through to the finals, but she still loves singing anyway. In fact, she even sang in her own band.

Hanging Out With Dad

Jane and Jim Carrey have always maintained a very close relationship. Jane often visits her father on the set of whatever movie he happens to be filming that day. They take a walk, drink coffee, and chat about everything going on in their lives.

A Growing Family

Jane has a son of her own, making Jim Carrey a very proud grandpa. She was married at a fairly young age when she was just 22 years old. Unfortunately for Jane, the marriage fell apart after only two years.

Proud Pop

When his grandson was born, Jim Carrey couldn't contain his excitement. He Tweeted: "Jackson Riley Santana. My Grandson, Born today! This is what 7 lbs.11oz of California dynamite looks like!" He often says that Jane is the best mom to her son. Aww!
