These So-Called 'Bad Habits' Are Actually Healthy According To Science

There is no shame in admitting that you enjoy long naps, some wine after lunch, or that some days you just want to hit the couch instead of going to the gym. New studies have shown us that many things (when done in moderation), such as drinking coffee, skipping breakfast, and eating high-fat and high-protein foods such as eggs can bring plenty of health benefits to the people that enjoy these types of activities. This article is going to list 3 such activities that can greatly improve your health when done in moderate amounts.

Skipping Breakfast (or Intermittent Fasting)

Although you've probably been told the importance of breakfast thousands of times, the fact of the matter is that no single meal is crucial to your health or life quality. At the end of the day, what's important is your total calorie in and calorie out measures, which you can control by making sure your portion sizes are adequate for your level of activity during the day.

Another important thing when it comes to eating your meals, according to the latest scientific findings, is that people who skip a meal so that they don't eat for at least 12 to 16 hours in a 24-hour time period, can see dramatic increases in the level of HGH and other similar enzymes in their bloodstream. That's why some people find skipping breakfast (or dinner if you prefer not to eat late at night) to be highly beneficial.

Drinking Coffee on a Daily Basis

Many people say that things that taste great (like chocolate or burgers) tend to be bad for you, and for most things, that is correct. The better a food item tastes, the worse it probably is for your health. An exception to this rule is the world's #1 "upper" - which is coffee. The reason why coffee is healthy is because of the multiple different chemical compounds that are found inside each coffee bean, with the most important being caffeine.

Sure, you can get your caffeine from other sources as well, such as dark chocolate and tea, but ounce for ounce, nothing beats the caffeine and antioxidant properties of a properly made cup of joe. According to many different studies, people that drink moderate amounts of coffee tend to live longer and be in better overall shape. The recommended daily amount is 2 cups.

Eating Eggs

The first part of this article said that you should try to skip breakfast if you want to try out intermittent fasting, but at the same time, eggs are one of the healthiest food products you can consume on a daily basis, and many people tend to want to eat eggs for their breakfast. If you are one of those people, then instead of skipping breakfast, you can skip late night dinners, so that you can both have eggs during the day, and enjoy the benefits of intermittent fasting.

The reason why eggs are healthy is because of their healthy fat content, which makes the bad type (LDL) of cholesterol go down, while the good type (called HDL) goes up. Another reason why eggs are healthy is because they have plenty of B12 vitamins, and they have a high protein content - an important factor when you want to build more muscle.
