Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams, and George Newbern star in this popular comedy released in 1991. Though you may cringe now at the gender stereotypes, at the time of its release, Father of the Bride was a hilarious romantic comedy. The film was a major box office success - so much so that a sequel was released a few years later.
The storyline follows businessman, George Banks (played by Martin) as he discovers his daughter is getting married. Disapproving of his daughter's partner, George refuses to give her away at first. However, he inevitably comes to terms with his future son in law and everyone ends up being happy. Father of the Bride won a BMI Film Award for Best Movie in 1993. It remains a classic item on the list of greatest chick flicks of all time.
