There's a new Hellboy movie coming out, and it's a complete reboot of the franchise; even though the original picture was only made in 2004, with a sequel that was released in 2008. There may be no 'golden rule' in how many years have to pass before you make a reboot, but a decade feels like it's too short. It's going to have to be outstanding to win over cinema-goers, who will remember the previous films with affection.
In truth, this was originally supposed to be a sequel to the second film, but Guillermo del Toro refused to return as director if he couldn't write the script, and Ron Perlman refused to reprise the lead role without del Toro, so the studio was forced to start from scratch instead.
