Unless you were there, it's hard to describe exactly how famous Sarah Michelle Gellar was in the mid-1990s. She was probably the hottest star in the world for a short time. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was a global phenomenon and she topped the "World's Sexiest" lists in every men's magazine you could find. She seemed a sure bet to go on to a huge movie career, but after initial success in the horror genre with the "Scream" franchise, it just never really happened.
These days she can be found in Los Angeles, where she has two children with husband Freddie Prinze Jr, and she still takes on some television roles, although she doesn't have a movie credit since 2009. It might have been the case that she was just too well known as Buffy, but there are worst things in life than playing a part that won a legion of fans who still love and adore her to this day
