But for the whole time he's been famous, he's also had to put up with jokes about the animal he seemingly took his stage name from. So why did the 'Kiss from A Rose' singer choose the name he did?
He didn't. There's no great mystery to it, it just happens to be his real first name. You can understand why he went with a short version though; his full name is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel. That's never going to fit on a record sleeve, a billboard or a t-shirt, so his legions of fans are probably glad that he spared them the trouble by cutting almost all of it out.
