Adidas was formed when a completely unskilled German teenager started trying to make running shoes, in his mother's kitchen, using canvas, rubber and her waffle iron. As you can imagine, it didn't go right the very first time, but with practice, it became one of the largest sports brands in the world.
Shoes will always be popular. Designer, boutique shoes sell for thousands of times their material cost.
