30. Elizabeth Taylor

Dame Elizabeth Taylor is one of the most famous and well-respected actresses ever to grace our screens. Nobody can deny that she made it to the very top. Taylor was born in London; however, it wasn't until her family relocated to Los Angeles due to tension in Europe in 1939 that she became interested in acting. When she was nine years old she scored a minor role in the movie, There's One Born Every Minute. From that point on, she continued to rise.

Three years after her film debut, she landed a starring role in National Velvet, which secured her acting career. For some it's a difficult transition, but Taylor managed to switch from child to adult roles seamlessly. Her first such role was in Father of the Bride in 1950. During her lifetime Taylor won two Academy Awards.
