Moon Unit Zappa is another of the fairly well-known celebrity kids with strange names. There's nothing conventional whatsoever about the life of her father Frank Zappa, an experimental musician and artist who shocked and delighted audience throughout much of the 1970s and 80s. Her mother Gail wouldn't have been much of a leveling influence on Frank's quirky behavior either - by her own admission, she met Frank as a groupie and eventually fell in love with him.
Some celebrity children - Zowie Bowie, for example- change their name to something more conventional when they get a little older. Moon Unit has stuck with hers and has worked as a musician, actress, and writer over the course of her life. Born in the 1960s, she's now 51 years old and has passed on the family tradition of offbeat names to her daughter Mathilda Plum.
