Raquel Welch was a huge sex symbol in the 60s and 70s, despite the competition being incredibly fierce. There were a lot of blonde bombshells in the 60s and 70s, but she set herself apart. She wasn't just a pretty face either. She won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy in 1974 for her role in The Three Musketeers. She also had a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Television Film for her performance in Right to Die in 1987.
Just getting a nomination for a Golden Globe Award is something big to brag about. There are only so many winners every year, and the competition is stiff. Some actors go their whole careers being nominated but never winning. That doesn't sound so bad to me.
