Check out that cast! There are a lot of heavy hitter actors in The Outsiders. Ralph Macchio of Karate Kid fame plays a character named Johnny Cade who is part of a gang. Macchio's gang ends up killing a rival gang member, so he and his fellow gang member Ponyboy, played by C. Thomas Howell, go on the run so they don't get sentenced to death. My biggest question? Why is his name Ponyboy? Hopefully he doesn't give his friends pony rides.
Among the other actors in this film are Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Tom Cruise, and Matt Dillon. Every single one of these actors would go on to have amazing careers after this. Just look at Tom Cruise. He's one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and when it comes to action movies, no one beats Cruise.
