Alexandra Bastedo was a British actress who had success in the ‘60s and ‘70s. She became a household name in 1968 with the series The Champions. In the show, she played a spy named Sharron Macready. That is where she gained the status of “sexy symbol.” She has also been in the movies 13 Frightened Girls, The Aphrodite Inheritance, and most recently Batman Begins.
She later became an animal activist, which seems to be a common thread among actresses. She passed away in January of 2014 of cancer, just a year after her husband. They had been married for 33 years. It is always both sad and beautiful when two people in love die so soon after each other. It is as if they can't go on living in the world without the other person.
