Tattoos are amazingly creative ways for people to be self expressive and to represent themselves in a way that they feel suits their bodies. There are of course, good and bad tattoos, but that's not the point here. Take a look at these amazing ways that tattoos have been used to cover up brutal scars and allow people to continue with their lives with minimized scathing. They seriously are amazing!

A Flower
Flowers are often seen as a symbol of life and of starting a again from the ground up, and that is exactly what this person decided to do. By covering his scars with art, this person is able to put the past behind them and move forward.
Wound
What was once a terrible, graphic wound on this person's stomach has become the site for some seriously cool tattoo work, and I'm sure this person was very happy with the end result. After all, look how cool it is!
From Wounds to Life
What are most likely self harm scars on the picture on the left are the result of serious, misunderstood mental health issues. By covering them up, this person is able to move forward with their life and hopefully get the help they need.

This person was able to have a graphic arm full of severe self harm scars transformed into some beautiful artwork featuring a mummy, thanks to the help of the amazing tattoo artists who were able to pull this off in such a cool and effective way.

This once graphic and gory wound on this person's leg has been transformed into an amazing looking flower with birds around it. Now this person might be able to forget the cause of their trauma and move forward with pride.
Abdomen Scar
A scar on this person's abdomen has been transformed into some seriously badass artwork. This just goes to show you how effective tattoos can be when used by professional artists in this way. It really is a severely underappreciated art.
Cocoon
From the cocoon of this person's previous wound, a beautiful butterfly has emerged. The butterfly is the result of hours of inking work from a trained professional who happens to be very talented. They're able to turn something dark into something beautiful.

The scar is on the bottom image here, with the top image showing what it looks like it now. It's hard to even see the site of the original scar thanks to the severely amazing work that was done by these tattoo artists.
A Cute Saber
While not as severely artistic as the other entries on this list, who are we to judge art? After all, it's subjective. At least we can all agree that this light saber is a really cute way to cover up a scar.

This insanely painful looking wound on someone's back was transformed into something beautiful. With the pain this person must have been through, it's nice that a tattoo artist was able to restore them in some way and give them a renewed sense of self.

Here, a mighty cobra is used to cover up from a mighty painful looking wound. It's really amazing what ink can do when we let our bodies serve as walking canvases for professionals to decorate--especially when it is able to hide our past pain.

The results here speak for themselves and really are absolutely amazing. You can't even see the site of the original wound on this person's back, because it has been masterfully covered in an extremely tasteful way by the artist involved.

The turtle that is now on this person's foot looks absolutely amazing, it's almost impossible to tell it was ever the site of an injury. Seriously, it just looks like a really cool tattoo of a turtle and no one would know any different unless told.
Flight of the Phoenix
From a scar, a phoenix has emerged and with it this person has been given a chance to be reborn. Without feeling held back by their self harm scar they can get the help they need to feel good about themselves.
